Using PubMed at WCM-Q

MyNCBI

MyNCBI is a tool from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which provides expanded functionality for PubMed and other NCBI databases.  Some of the things that you can do with MyNCBI after signing up for a free account include:

  • Save searches indefinitely
  • Create automated search updates
  • Implement search filters
  • Save citations indefinitely
  • Access search histories

Creating a MyNCBI Account

The following steps will lead you through creating a free MyNCBI account:

1)  In the upper right corner of a PubMed webpage, click on the MyNCBI link

2)  Click on the "Register for an account" link

3)  Fill in the requested information and then click the "Register" button

4)  You will soon thereafter receive an email in the email account for which you provided the address.  After you click on the email confirmation link in the email, your account will be active.
