Copyright restrictions

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a copy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any other purpose than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

The Institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order, if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law. No further reproduction and distribution of this copy is permitted by transmission or any other means.

Absence of copyright notice does not necessarily indicate that the material is not copyrighted. The law no longer requires such a notice.

Rights and restrictions to the use of electronic resources

Copyright of this material is owned by its producers and their agents. The Institution has obtained a limited license to use this material.

Authorized users under the license include current faculty, students, staff of Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar and those who use the computers the Library provides to the general public.

You may access and use this electronic material for research, study and teaching. Licenses specifically prohibit copying or tampering with the software that organizes and displays information, systematic downloading or redistribution of content, and removal or altering the copyright holder's ownership marks. All commercial uses, e.g., uses for purposes of monetary reward, are prohibited.

Misuse of the materials violates the Campus Code of Conduct and the University Policy on Responsible Use of Electronic Communications. Penalties for misuse could be imposed under those University policies. Misuse also violates the terms of the University's license agreement and could result in termination of the license and loss of the use of this material by the entire Cornell community.

Providers and the Library offer the material on a "as is basis". They do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of the data or the availability of storage and delivery devices.
