The Value of Assessing Evidence-Based Practice Skills Using Observation
This topic will explore how integrating librarian expertise into observational assessments can improve competency-based evaluations of EBP skills. I will discuss the use of Observed Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) to provide feedback on how learners ask clinical questions, acquire and search for evidence, appraise validity, and apply findings. The observational approach captures authentic practice behaviors that can teach us about how our learners received and acted upon our classes. Incorporating librarian expertise helps provide actionable feedback that enhances EBP integration into clinical decision-making.
