Find books, databases, e-journals, articles, and videos in the WCM-Q Library collection.
To begin our SEARCH, we start with the simple search box.
Type the first topic you want to find in the SEARCH box, such as RNA.
You can combine this with another keyword, such as vaccine.
You will find a drop-down menu on the search box to switch between Search Everything and Course Reserves. Search Everything will allow you to search all of our resources related to your keywords, including books, articles, videos, and databases. Course Reserves searches only only those materials put aside for a particular class with limited circulation.
For our example search, we want to Search Everything and will then click on the magnifying glass or press Enter.
The results list shows a variety of sources:
Articles
Books
Videos
Journals
Select the Resource Type filter on the left. You can choose multiple resource types by selecting the checkboxes on the left side of each type you want and then clicking the Apply Filters button at the bottom. You can also click on one resource type name, such as Articles, to quickly filter.
To get full text access, you need to use the One Sign In function. In the upper right corner or in the yellow band beneath the search box, click Sign In.
Enter your full WCM-Q email and password, for example, xyz1234@qatar-med.cornell.edu.
Once you have done a search for your item (see above), click on View Online to get the full text of the article or e-book.
For articles, check the coverage dates for online resources to make sure you are selecting the appropriate link. Then click the name of the database, such as New England Journal of Medicine Current, to open in a new tab.
For e-books, click View full text to open the resource in a new tab.
Click on the top menu item NEW SEARCH to start your search.
To find a specific book, type as much of the title as you know, such as Encyclopedia of Biophysics, into the search box and click the magnifying glass or press Enter.
In the results, find the title you are looking for. You can filter by Full text online and Books if you want to find e-books or Physical items in the library and Books if you want to find print items. Click APPLY FILTERS.
Click on View Online to get to the e-book.
From here, you can click View full text via the e-book collections, such as SpringerLink Book.
Click on Physical Item Available... to get the print book.
At the top of the screen, you have a number of options to search our collection further.
Explore E-JOURNAL TITLES by searching for a title or ISSN, such as Medical Teacher. You will notice that as you type, it gives you suggestions. The results will show journals only. On the left, you will find Journals by Category filters.
Back to the top menu, DATABASE TITLES allows you to search for a particular database, such as Medline. The results provide the descriptions and links for the database. Sometimes there are multiple versions or interfaces, as with Medline via PubMed or Ovid Medline.
Also in the top menu is INTERLIBRARY LOAN. If you need a resource that is not available within our collection, use our interlibrary loan services.
Finally, USER GUIDES take you to course, subject, service, and how-to guides prepared by our librarians.
